This dream occurred several nights ago. The memory of it remains with me. It was a dark and disturbing dream but not a nightmare. I am a high school student. I live in an apartment building in an apartment with my mom and my sister. My sister and I like to explore the neighborhood. She is a bit younger than me but is quite curious and brave. We find an alley that leads to a building with a door. The door is open so we go inside, assuming that the building is abandoned. The inside is nicely appointed with rich, velvet furniture in dark reds. The walls are painted dark red and many of them are curtained with heavy, red, velvet curtains. Clearly the building is far from abandoned.
A man comes out from behind a curtain. His presence is palpable and disconcerting. He is dressed in a red velvet jacket. He has black hair. He is tall and thin and appears young is but clearly older than his appearance. I can tell by the way he stands and carries himself. He is a disturbing man. He invites us to come further into the building. We pass through various rooms. They are each different from the previous in color and feeling. Some even have floors and walls at odd angles. My sister is enthralled but I am aware of a feeling of mistrust for our guide. I seem to sense that he means to entrap us in the labyrinthine building. I state rather bluntly, with fear I wish I could conceal, that my sister and I need to return home. With a gesture seeming to indicate that he is unconcerned while at the same time revealing his displeasure, he says that we are welcome to come back any time. My sister seems happy at the invitation which makes me feel all the more worried about the man’s unclear intentions. He seems to have my sister quite charmed. I grab my sister and we return to our apartment. I am on a playground at the edge of the high school I attend. I am alone. I am in a car, a convertible, near the strange man’s building, in the alley. I feel uneasy. I am in the basement of the apartment building in which I live. The lighting is dim and eerie. There is an altar shaped like a small mountain, three feet tall, with small candles set here and there on small outcroppings. The entire scene is dark, lit only with a dim bulb and the slight glow of the small candles on the altar. I feel I am there seeking protection from the man in the odd building. My feeling of uneasiness continues, even as I wake up from the dream. No one has commented on this article.
